If you’ve always lived your life within the same borders, it’s time to break out and head to a new part of the world. Traveling abroad is not only exciting, but it’s also beneficial in many different ways. Here are our EWR parking members’ favorite benefits:
Experience a New Culture
If you’ve never been outside the country, traveling abroad is a wonderful way to experience a new culture. You’ll discover a whole new world of food, dance, hobbies, drinks, languages, and more – all of which can broaden your perspective.
Make New Friends
Who wouldn’t want friends in another country? When traveling abroad, make it a point to talk to the locals and you just may make some new friends. Then, be sure to keep in touch after you return home and you’ll have a genuine connection that helps you learn more about the country and the culture (plus, you’ll have a place to stay the next time you’re there).
Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
Enriching your life is all about getting out of your comfort zone and doing something you’ve never done. If you’ve never been to another country, take a leap – break your daily routine and put yourself in a wildly different situation. You may be surprised at the results.
In line with the previous benefit, traveling abroad and stepping out of your comfort zone can help you build your confidence. Whether you take the trip alone, stay in an Airbnb, drive on the “wrong” side of the road, or something else, the time you spend doing it will help build your character and make you an overall more interesting person.
Try Something New
If there’s something you’ve always wanted to do but never have, a trip abroad is the perfect time to do it. Since you’re in a completely different world, why not check something off of your bucket list – try a new food, go horseback riding, see a live play, or ride a bike along the countryside. You’ll not only make memories, but you’ll feel exhilarated.
Add to Your Resume
While it may be the last thing you think of when you think of traveling, spending some time abroad can help you add to your resume. Many employers view overseas traveling as a way to add to your knowledge and experience, so you’ll look even better on paper.
Learn More About Yourself
Immersing yourself in a totally different culture can teach you a lot about yourself – what you enjoy, how you adapt, the way you interact with others, and more. Traveling abroad builds character, and you can never have too much character.
