Do you have a family vacation planned for this summer? At Value Parking, we know traveling with children can be stressful, but there are a few things you can do to make the trip go a little smoother (and make sure you come back sane):
Arrive Early
Whether it’s the airport, the beach, a museum, a monument, or another destination, do yourself a favor and get there early. Long lines and large crowds can make people (especially children) anxious and impatient, so be the first ones there and you’ll be able to breathe a little easier.
Pack Carry-ons Properly
If you’re checking your bags, make sure each of your family members has a change of clothes, extra underwear, extra socks, and toiletry essentials packed in their carry-on bag. This way, if your luggage gets lost, you’ll still have a few of the things you need until it’s found.
Look for Family Activities
Unless you’re traveling to a remote island, you’ll likely find family-friendly events near your destination that everyone can enjoy. Do some research before you go to see if there’s anything happening while you’re visiting or ask the concierge for recommendations. You can also see if your trip offers things like age specials or family packages.
Make Lists
We know you can’t remember everything, so make lists! Make a list of what to pack for yourself, what to pack for your kids, what restaurants are near your hotel, what sights you want to see, and more. It never hurts to have something in writing that you can reference when you need it.
Stay Outside the City
If you’re headed to a major city for your vacation, consider staying in a hotel, vacation home, or even an Airbnb outside of the city. It may be a bit further away from everything, but you’ll save money and you’ll likely get better accommodations. Plus, because you’re near a city, transportation should be readily available.
Don’t Forget Entertainment
Small children lose interest in things rather quickly, so bring something with you that you know will keep them occupied when they need to be. Try packing a coloring book and crayons, books, small toys, a tablet, and more.
Park with Value
From booking plane tickets for your entire family to finding the right place to stay to figuring out what to do for entertainment, planning a family vacation is stressful enough. Don’t make it more stressful by parking at Newark Airport. Instead, make your reservation with Value Parking and save both money and your stress level. Our service is perfect for family vacations!
