When you have a trip planned, you probably don’t look forward to packing. Whether it’s trying to fit everything into your suitcase or trying to remember what you need to bring, packing isn’t the most fun part of a vacation. That’s why our Newark Airport parking company has some packing tips to help make it easier:
Clothing
Roll ‘Em – One thing the members of our Newark Airport parking company find helpful is rolling your clothes instead of folding them. You’ll not only have more room, but you’ll have fewer wrinkles to iron out.
Mix and Match – Pack pieces of clothing that are versatile – a pair of pants that can be worn with all of your shirts, a sweater that can be worn over any outfit, a skirt you can dress up or dress down, etc.
Bulk Up – If you’re trying to stay condensed with your packing, wear your bulkiest items while you travel (like a coat or boots). You won’t have to worry about trying to fit them in your suitcase.
Toiletries
Travel Sizes – When it comes to toothpaste, hairspray, shampoo, conditioner, face wash, and other toiletries, buy them in travel sizes or buy empty travel-sized containers and fill each one. You’ll save a lot of room and lighten up your suitcase load.
Hair Dryer – If you’re staying in a hotel at your destination, check to see if the room has a hair dryer. If so, you won’t have to lug yours along.
Shoes
Think About It – Before you choose which shoes you want to pack, think about what you’ll be doing on your trip. If you’ll be walking a lot, choose shoes that are comfortable. If you’ll be dressing up a lot, pack a pair that matches all of your outfits.
Remember – Many people forget that the shoes they wear while they’re traveling will also be in the mix of shoe options for their trip.
Accessories
Leave It – If you’re headed to the beach, leave large things like your umbrella or beach chair behind. You can always buy or rent one when you get there.
Versatile Jewelry – When deciding what jewelry to pack, choose pieces that can be mixed and matched and worn with more than one outfit.
Other Tips
If you’re checking your luggage, there’s always a chance of it getting lost or not arriving on time. At our Newark Airport parking company, we like to pack some essentials (toothpaste, toothbrush, underwear) and a change of clothes in our carry-on in case something goes wrong with our luggage.
All luggage is different, so look for the pieces with the most room. Ones with lots of pockets tend to be a good choice, along with ones that are expandable.
If you’re planning on buying souvenirs, make sure you leave some room (and weight) in your luggage when you pack. This way, you won’t have to worry about where to put them for your trip home.
If you’re someone who tends to over-pack, start by laying out all of the clothing, shoes, and accessories you want to bring. Then, walk away and do something else for a few hours (or even a day). When you come back to your selection, you’ll have fresh eyes and can eliminate some things you may not need to bring.
