Planning your next overseas getaway for 2018? United Airlines just announced that it will be adding seasonal service to four new European routes next year – and two of them are out of Newark Airport.

From its hub at EWR, United will be offering flights to Porto, Portugal and Reykjavik, Iceland beginning May 4th and May 23rd, respectively. Both routes will run through October 4th and offer travelers a chance to easily get to two unique destinations in Europe.

Service from Newark to Porto will be approximately 7 hours, 5 minutes eastbound and 8 hours westbound while service from Newark to Reykjavik will be approximately 5 hours, 40 minutes eastbound and 6 hours, 10 minutes westbound. Both flights will be flown via Boeing 757 aircrafts that seat around 200 passengers.

Once May rolls around, United will become the only U.S. carrier to fly to Porto and just the second U.S. carrier to fly to any city in Iceland!

About These Destinations

Porto, Portugal

Porto is the second-largest city in Portugal (after Lisbon) and is considered one of the most eclectic European destinations. The city sits along the Douro River and is rich with medieval architecture, art cafes, food markets, and of course – port wine lodges. The city also dates back to pre-Roman times, making it a great spot for history buffs.

Reykjavik, Iceland

Iceland has quickly become one of the most popular European travel destinations and for good reasons. With its geothermal springs, lively nightlife, long summer days, and contemporary cuisine, visitors have plenty to explore. Plus, travel to the right part of the city and you’ll be able to see the northern lights dancing overhead.
